If you want a continuous year round harvest of nutrient dense, tender leafy greens in a small space, grow Perpetual Spinach.

Perpetual Spinach is one of the most productive leafy greens you can grow in a small space, especially in hot, dry climates like the Mojave. This variety is a type of leaf beet chard with slender stems and soft, tender leaves that closely resemble true spinach in both flavor and texture when cooked.

Unlike spinach, which struggles in heat, Perpetual Spinach thrives through high temperatures and continues producing abundant greens well into triple-digit weather. Its deep taproot contributes to exceptional vigor and drought tolerance, allowing plants to remain productive for years with minimal inputs once established.

While not as cold-hardy as kale, Perpetual Spinach grows faster and tolerates heat far better, making it an ideal choice for extended-season harvests. With good drainage, rich soil, and consistent mulching (kept clear of the crown), plants can overwinter successfully in many regions and resume vigorous growth in spring. Removing flower stalks early helps extend the life and productivity of each plant.

An outstanding choice for lazy gardens, permaculture systems, and market growers seeking reliable, long-lasting leafy greens.

Bred on our farm in Helendale, selected for heat tolerance, drought survival, and continuous harvest.
