From the Mojave to Your Garden

Seeds Of Succession was born from an unlikely journey. One that started in the high desert of Helendale, California, took a detour through Boston jazz clubs, and wound through farms in Oregon, Colorado, and the Virgin Islands before coming full circle back home.

I grew up in the Mojave Desert and graduated from Oro Grande before heading east to study jazz guitar in Boston. I ended up playing and hosting concerts with friends until the pandemic changed everything. Stuck at home, I started a garden. What began as something to do became a calling.

The more I learned about plants, soil, and the ancient relationship between people and seeds, the more obsessed I became. I started working on farms across the country, immersing myself in regenerative and natural farming practices. And then I felt it: a pull to bring all of it back home. Back to the desert. Back to my family and community.

In 2023, I purchased 5 acres in my hometown and established SOS Farm & Nursery, a working land laboratory dedicated to experimenting, innovating, and proving that the desert can be alive with food and biodiversity.

Why Desert Adapted Seeds Matter

Most seeds sold today are bred for irrigated, temperate climates. They struggle in heat, in drought, in alkaline desert soils. At Seeds Of Succession, every variety we grow and offer has been selected or adapted for exactly those conditions because we grow them right here, under the same brutal sun and dry air you are dealing with.

Heirloom and open pollinated seeds carry generations of adaptation in their genetics. When you save and replant them, you are continuing a living lineage, one that gets more suited to your land every season. That is what succession means to us.
